I’m currently enroute to a family event in London and as a hurtle down the tracks I can’t help but notice the beauty of County Durham countryside. Pausing my view of fluffy herds of sheep and rolling hills with the artificial cheesy comfort of tangy Doritos. I’m really enjoying the simple pleasures that England has to offer. Take for example a cup of your morning caffeine, how often do you take the time to really sit and enjoy your tea/coffee/water. It’s really easy to get wrapped up in everything that’s wrong in this world through the mania spewing out of my portable device.
But sometimes self care doesn’t need to be extreme as a spa trip or a mini break. Self care for me is often a strong cup of tea with plenty of milk and honey (don’t judge me) and a new book recommended by a friend. Think about your grandparents and how much free time they seem to have in a day. Really they’re not in that much of a different situation then most students (especially at the start of term). But I think it’s a cop out for anyone to not prioritise a couple moments everyday to savour these everyday delights. No guilt. No shame. Deep breaths and appreciation.
What time are you going to carve out today to tune in with this beautiful and immensely lucky life you are living? If you’d like some accountability drop a comment down below, on the Facebook post or slide into my dms. Also, I’d like to take this opportunity to say how grateful I am to have such dedicated and supportive readers. Even those amongst you who aren’t super vocal - I see you and thank you.
All my love, Sam
