Visualising Success: Affirmations


Welcome to Part II of my Visualising Success series - to check out my wallpaper edition click here. This series is all about the tools and techniques I use on a daily basis to start manifesting the positive goals I want in my life. From a first class degree to spreading more love to the people around me. If you've tapped into the spiritual scene, you're probably familiar with the term 'affirmation'. The basic premise is writing and saying mantras that epitomise the future you want to create for yourself.

Without bogging you down with hundreds of books into why positive affirmations can change your life - here are the headlines. By focusing on the positive you want to cultivate in your life you can start living that reality. Think fake it til you make it.

For example, if you want to lose weight and feel stronger. You can choose an affirmation like "I am fit and healthy and I'm in love with my physical appearance". By repeating this affirmation every day, ideally five times or more, you can trick your mind into believing this is your reality. Until one day you wake up and you no longer feel like you're faking it. Taking this example further, if you don't believe in the spiritual sphere of Law of Attraction and source energy (which I will write about soon)! Then on a very tangible level believing you are fit and healthy will impact the choices you make. From choosing healthier options at the supermarket to actually going to the gym. On a chemical level studies have shown your brain changes when you start to change your thoughts.

This fake it until you make it principle is incredibly powerful. So, let's begin how can you start visualising success through affirmations:

1) Start by choosing a goal you want to work towards. I like to focus in on one in particular initially. But, take this time to write down the other ones you're aiming for in the future.

2) Now, think about how you will feel when that goal is achieved.

3) Fill in the blanks:

I'm so happy that I __________ (have a first class degree)(found the love of my life)(am more confident in my skin). It feels ________ (incredible)(inspiring)(exciting) to live out my dreams as a reality.

*Whatever you choose make sure you write it in the present tense, as if it's already achieved.

4) Next, write this down somewhere you can see it everyday. Be that your desk, a chalkboard, a sign on the back of your door or on your mirror. Ideally, somewhere you cannot avoid seeing.

5) Every time you see this sign I want you to stand with your hands on your hips (wonder woman power pose) and repeat your affirmation five times. It's okay if it feels fake or silly to begin with, you will start to believe yourself through repetition.

GOOD LUCK! At first I would try this out for seven days straight. What have you go to lose? I've been using affirmations for years now and I can honestly say at the very least it resets me to a positive mindset when I start my day.
